The annual “A Toast to George Washington” event hosted by Minnesota Masonic Charities and the Minnesota Masonic Heritage Society will this year highlight the Great Debates of 1858 – a series of seven debates between then-candidate for the U.S. Senate from Illinois, Abraham Lincoln, and the incumbent Senator Stephen A. Douglas. Bringing the retrospective to life will be acclaimed actor-interpreters George Buss as Lincoln and Tim Connors as Douglas.
Buss has served for 30 years as a Lincoln interpreter and recently was named to deliver the Address annually at Gettysburg. Connors has performed as Douglas for nearly a decade and appeared at all seven original debate sites during the 2008 Sesquicentennial of the Debates. The two have appeared together on numerous occasions to reprise the roles.
Tickets for this educational and entertaining event are $40/adult ($35 for Heritage Society Members). The evening includes a social hour with cash bar, buffet dinner and the Debates presentation.
