Philanthropy Mattes February 2013

The Supreme Court of the U.S. met for the first time on February 1, 1790.
On February 10, 1962, Astronaut John Glen Jr. became the first American to orbit the earth.
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809; George Washington was born on February 22, 1732.
The U. S. acquired the Florida territory from Spain on February 22, 1819.

And... February is the most
misspelled of all the months.

Not random at all: some February events from Minnesota Masonic Charities that should be noted:

February 8 – DEADLINE!!!  Scholarship applications for the Signature and Heritage scholarships need to be postmarked by this date – YES - that means there is ACTUALLY still time for worthy candidates to complete, submit, and cross their fingers…questions? Go here.

February 14 – the MMC annual public service announcement for all spouses and fond friends: think red and heart-shaped…(just sayin’)

February 23 – Have dinner with a US President…and not just any President, but President Teddy Roosevelt.  The Annual Toast to George Washington dinner, hosted by MMC and the Minnesota Masonic Historical Society, encourages you to make your reservation a.s.a.p. – how and where? Try here.  (And read a couple of rave reviews…)

February 28 – Apply-for-an-MMC-Matching-Grant-Day… Why now? Look here.
